The environmental qualities of the area were further acknowledged when a local rezoning application (from Rural C to Rural Residential) resulted instead in a rezoning to Environmental. This application formed part of an extensive, and ultimately successful, rezoning application from Rural A to General Residential to the south east.
This recognition by local council was a primary motivator to enhance and highlight the conservation values by registering in perpetuity Conservation Covenants on the land titles, and undertaking regionally important restoration and connectivity projects.
Biodiversity credits generated under the NSW DPIE Biodiversity Offsets Scheme fulfilled part of local Council’s offset requirements for a major bypass road, and the subsequent conservation agreements, administered by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust, enable management for improving biodiversity in perpetuity.
