Wandiyali Rangers
working to help caretake our environment via two complimentary activities:
- walking around and 'looking after country’ - a great way to keep up with what is flowering, nesting, new sightings etc, while doing small ‘jobs’ along the way
- working on a particular project or site - eg. nestbox monitoring, planting, weeding, fence maintenance;

Biodiversity Field Day
Fantastic day today, thanks very much year 9 Jerrabomberra High School for coming out for the field day focusing on looking after our biodiversity - interesting activities including looking at nest box monitoring, vegetation plots, remote cameras and reptile tiles, and water bugs.With NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust and Petaurus Education Trust.
“Jerra High Science of Design Create Update
Our Science of Design Create class has been collaborating with Wandiyali Restoration Trust to develop bat boxes for native microbats. The students have been divided into two teams, giving them a real-world work experience in roles such as Design Managers, Assembly, Laser Etching, CNC Milling, and Marketing.
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming David and Carolyn Larcombe to review our designs and provide feedback. The students asked insightful questions to improve their work, and we're excited about what's coming next!
Stay tuned for the final product reveal — it's going to be amazing!
Nestbox reveal, how amazing are these! Many thanks JHS!

Field Naturalists, Canberra
“Wandiyali consists of open woodland and grassland, including a significant patch of critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland, and importantly provides both east west and north south connectivity across the landscape, linking a corridor between Canberra and the coast and protecting an upper stretch of Jerrabomberra Creek
After a stunning presentation at the FNAC meeting the previous night, we had great expectations of the sanctuary, and we weren’t disappointed. Much of the over storey had not been cleared, and included some very old large trees, but it was the under storey that really took our breath away. The post-grazing recovery was remarkable, and being Spring, we were treated to an amazing wildflower display..“

Canberra Ornithologists Group
“In total, we recorded 40 species, but the real star of the show was Wandiyali itself, a remarkable gem preserved and restored through many years of hard work and dedication.”
